I watched all of this shit going on, but I never knew it was the Cock Brothers!

Fuck me running!

Oh, you can count me in on any future protests.

Oh, and it turns out that Americans for Prosperity and their doms, the Cock Brothers, don't like this video. Can't imagine why.

April Meet-Up!
lolerskates
enkiroll
I know this is a little last minute (I'll get back to updating this thing regularly again soon, I swear!), but there is a meet-up this Saturday, starting at 2 pm.

Other details:

It's the return of the all-day-at-Pullen-Park picnic meets! Since many folks are attending FWA, something simple and inexpensive afterwards is just what's needed. Plus with the weather getting warmer, it'll be nice to get out in the fresh air!

Come join us at Pullen Park, in the picnic area near the merry-go-round and caboose (over the big bridge). Hang out, draw, play games, frisbee, etc. Bring some food or drink to share with the group; doesn't have to be a lot, a bag of chips, a 2-liter or two. Cook if you like! There are grills there, so hot dogs and burgers are also viable. (Redneck will be handling fire duties just to be on the safe side.) We'll stay there til it gets dark.

FURSUIT POLICY: Sure! Fursuits are okay, but just be aware of the temperature. Also, that you totally do not want to use the bathrooms there as changing rooms. In fact, you should only go in the bathrooms there in the most dire of bladder-busting emergencies.

March Meet-up

March should be warming up, and the night sky looks great, so we're going to be looking at the night sky via the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill!

To start, we're going to make our triumphant return to Pullen Park for a little light cookout and socializing. We encourage everyone to bring a little something to contribute to the group food; snacks, drinks, desserts, hot dogs, buns, condiments, etc.

At around 5:30 we will begin organizing car pooling to head to Morehead Planetarium. Why so late? The Planetarium is actually closed from 3:30 to 6:30 on Saturdays, but re-opens and stays open til 11pm. We won't be there THAT late, but we'll certainly have a nice leisurely time to explore our little pocket of space.

250 East Franklin St.
Chapel Hill, NC 27514
962-1236
http://www.moreheadplanetarium.org/

Bear in mind that there is a $6 admission price, but it goes to science, and science is awesome. Once we've been filled with awe, we'll head back to pick up the cars and disperse.

If it's still too cold by the time March rolls around, our initial meetup location will change to the Streets of Southpoint mall food court.

FURSUIT POLICY: Suits are a-ok at Pullen. Must be taken off though for the planetarium.

WHAT: The Fantastic Mr. Fox
WHEN: Friday December 11th, 2009
WHERE: Regal Brier Creek Stadium 14
8611 Brier Creek Pky
Raleigh, NC 27617
919-484-9994

I apologize for the scheduling SNAFUs on this one. Timing has not been the best to see this, but now, we're set. With the holidays so close and large groups of people unavailable Thanksgiving weekend, then the bowling meetup the weekend after (don't wanna double-stack expenses!), we've got it now on the 11th.

We'll be seeing The Fantastic Mr. Fox at Brier Creek Regal. The time is not yet determined, but shooting for a later showing. (They don't have the times that far in advance, but the current schedule indicates it's going to have a 9:35 showing every night).

Afterwards, we'll get our foods at Applebee's.

Hope to see you all there!

The movie nights have been fun, but let's face it, going to the movies isn't cheap no mo. So we're going to be keeping an eye on the dollar-fifty theaters for good film to see on the cheap, and do this more regularly!

The inaugural Cheap Movie Night is a damn good one, Pixar's UP, which is completely worth seeing on the big screen at full price, let alone a buck and a half. Sorry for the sort-of-short notice, but I couldn't find out if this film was going to be in the theater after Thursday. The movie itself starts at 9:15, so let's be there by 9!

Due to the lateness of the hour (the only other showing is at 6:45, a bit early) , it's unlikely we'll do dinner plans after. Hope to see you there!

When: November 25, 2009 7:00 PM (time subject to change)

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Dude. We're furries. Of course we're seeing this one.

Wednesday November 25th is the current opening date. Theater currently undetermined; Brier Creek seems the best "middle ground" one for the group as a whole. (Plus, with a Target nearby, we can buy to sneak in. $3 for a box of Milk Duds? You yankin' me?) Dinner after is also an option: Jason's Deli is open til 10 and both quick and inexpensive without being cheap, and if the show starts between 7 and 8, we'll have plenty of time to grab a bite there. There are other places too, like Applebee's which would take a little longer, but they know us and like us there. No, really.

More as we get closer to the release!

When: December 5th 2009, 2:00 PM

Where:
AMF South Hills lanes
301 Nottingham Dr
Cary, NC 27511

As winter marches on, and the weather gets cooler, our meetups move indoors. For our December 5th meetup, its bowling at AMF South Hills lanes. Grab a heavy object, chuck it, knock some stuff down and make some noise! The lanes are near Crossroads shopping center in Cary, across from the South Hills mall.

The alley also has games, and plenty of room to simply sit, talk and draw. AMF Lanes is fursuit friendly too! So bring your suit, tail, ears, etc!

We're looking at food options for after our games. We're going to attempt to talk to the nearby Gypsy's Shiny Diner beforehand about reserving some space for our group, but not holding our breath they'll do it. There are a lot pf places a short hop from the alley in Crossroads including Ruby Tuesday and Remington Grill; a little further along gets you a Golden Corral. And of course there's fast food, but really, we can do better, heh. Weigh in on our dining options in the forums!

Movie Night: Toy Story 1-2-3D, October 10th

October 10th Meetup details/reservation on Triangle Area Furries Meetup site.

Yet another mini-meet!

For two weeks, select theaters are showing Pixar's Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in a double-bill, in digital 3D. Ooooooo. So let's do this!

We'll meet at the Raleigh Grande Cinema, off of Glenwood Avenue and Lynn Road (across from the Target) at 2:30pm. The movie actually doesn't start until 3:20, but I want to make sure we can get tickets (there's only 3 showings a day). If you can get there earlier to grab tickets, all the better.

4840 Grove Barton Rd
Raleigh, NC 27613

The Lynnwood Grill is right across the lot for people there early who'd like to grab a bite before he show. There's also a Play 'N' Trade game store and Target nearby for browsing (and the latter for the buying of snacks to sneak in).

After the movie, let's do dinner at Fat Daddy's off Glenwood! Big burgers in fresh-baked rolls, ribs, dogs and such with a lot of seating space. And ice creams.

6201 Glenwood Ave
Raleigh, NC 27612-2615

In the event of tickets for the 3:20 showing sell out before we get there (I don't anticipate this, but just in case), we grab tickets for the 7:15 showing and push up the dinner plans to turn them into late lunch. To kill time, if the weather is fine, there's a small park at Lake Lynn (just off Lake Lynn road) that we can hang out at for a while, so pack drawing supplies or other forms of mobile entertainment just in case! Otherwise, there's lots of fun stores up and down Glenwood to haunt.

See you all there!

October Meetup - ZOOOOOOO!

When: Saturday October 3, 2009 1:00 PM

Where: NC Zoo
4401 Zoo Parkway
Asheboro, NC 27205

Now, we know that this is a bit of a trek for some of you, and transportation is an issue for others. So what we plan on doing is meeting up somewhere else to organize car pooling. Current plan is to meet at the Streets of Southpoint Mall (6910 Fayetteville Rd, Durham, NC 27713) between 10am and 11am. If you do not have transportation, please let us know; there are plenty of people in the group who can provide rides.

The zoo is always awesome, and for a mere $10, you see lots of animals. Hope to see you all there!

LOTS of restaurants in the Triangle Area, esp Durham & Raleigh!

1) Go to restaurant.com, and surf around for gift certificates. Use your zip code or someone else's zipcode if you're buying gifts.
2) The website Dealhack.com has the coupon code of NINETY. Enter the discount code from dealhack.com for 90% off your already-discounted gift certificates.
3) Enjoy!

EDIT: Be careful! Restaurant.com has managed to get a shady reputation by signing people up for a monthly service without their consent. They seem to have changed this, but they still make it very tricky to complete your order without signing up for the monthly service. Use caution, but otherwise enjoy your coupons!

I just bought $405.00 in gift cards for only $16.20.

This deal is only valid until midnight tonight, so hurry!
